The 90's. A decade desperate for a good time.
Looking back on the 90's, many forget how impacted it was by the AIDS crisis. The Fashion and Theater communities were especially hard hit, losing an entire generation of talent. All of us lost colleagues, mentors, some of our dearest friends and loved ones.
Looking back on the 90's, many forget how impacted it was by the AIDS crisis. The Fashion and Theater communities were especially hard hit, losing an entire generation of talent. All of us lost colleagues, mentors, some of our dearest friends and loved ones.
Starting in 1996 and continuing for the next six years, David Lawrence partnered with Versace in sponsoring Fashion Fights AIDS, a gala fashion show and party benefiting the Northwest Aids Foundation and Lifelong Aids Alliance, an organization that helped those dealing with the crisis.
Each year we packed our Seattle store with hundreds of guests for an evening of live music, DJs, food and drinks and an amazing fashion show produced by our friend Terri Morgan of TCM Models and Talent. The shows became the highly anticipated fashion event of the season, creating an evening of joy, celebration and hope at a time of helplessness and fear.
Cheers to Versace for always supporting us and understanding that life is too short for boring clothes!
